Last November we took a road trip to Miami.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone had days off for the Thanksgiving weekend and we wanted to see the Keys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Couldn\u2019t live in Florida and never experience the Keys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a good nights sleep in Miami we were up at sunrise ready to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pearl was on her perch\u2026 and looking a little leery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seems like every time she goes on a road trip with the whole gang\u2026. we end up at a large body of water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She hates water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I\u2019m sure she can sense the large amount of water around us\u2026even if she can\u2019t see it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traffic thru the Keys was a steady stream of cars\u2026 moving at a steady pace\u2026 and we had a ways to go to make it to mile 0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were spots where you could pull off and take a look around. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part of the old road to the Keys still in place and runs along the new highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can walk along it for miles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miles and miles of ocean\u2026. Sometimes dotted with islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lots of little islands\u2026 Most privately owned and occupied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Small towns\u2026 with a laid back feel\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Fiddlers<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Loved the small houses\u2026 Aged but strong\u2026 They had weathered many a hurricane.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All along the way\u2026 thru these little towns\u2026 with their small houses\u2026. as we drove by\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We heard \u201cHappy Thanksgiving\u201d from the families and friends who had gathered in the front yards for their feast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few invited us to stop awhile and have a bite to eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The people are special too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key West was busy\u2026. lots of people out and about\u2026 on foot\u2026 bicycle\u2026 scooter\u2026 motorcycle and car. Paid for a parking place for the rest of the day and joined the masses on foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wish we would have taken more pictures\u2026 but it really was impossible without getting people in them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the experience was wonderful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lots of little unique shops\u2026 great eats\u2026 and history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Had to walk by the Hemingway House on the way to the marker for the\u00a0Southernmost<\/strong>, Point, Continental, U.S.A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loved the chickens roaming around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kicked a fallen coconut along the street\u2026 got attached and had to bring it home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thought we would get a pic at mile marker 0 but many families were waiting so we moved on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To Margaritaville\u2026 Had to stop in this restaurant\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jimmy Buffett playing on the big screen\u2026 Island ambiance\u2026 and great food. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wanting to catch the sunset we found Fort Zachary Taylor State Park had a beautiful view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A perfect ending of a perfect day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We caught the 0 mile marker\u2026 from the truck\u2026 on the way out of town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
